John Gunter is the General Manager of Frontiers North Adventures (FNA). Working with a team of five managers and 50+ staff, John is responsible for daily operations of the organization and ensuring a world-class tourism experience is provided for all Frontiers North guests.
John performs an integral role for FNA leading the implementation of new and sustainable business practices and has worked hard towards Frontiers North being identified in 2011 as a Canadian Tourism Commission Signature Experience, in 2009 as Skål International’s Ecotourism Operator of the Year, in 2006 by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada as one of the top three Sustainable Tourism Operators in the country and in 2005 by Travel Manitoba as the top Sustainable Tourism Operator in the province.
Since joining the company full-time in 2003, John has developed FNA’s relationship with Polar Bears International and identifying and securing win-win business partnerships with Canada Goose Expedition Clothing Outfitters, Lowepro Worldwide, National Geographic Magazine, explore.org and WWF-Canada. Recently John played an integral role earning for Frontiers North the first-ever business license to operate in Wapusk National Park.
An adventurer, John enjoys investing time with his wife and two children traveling, hiking, camping, cycling, snorkeling, snowshoeing and playing hockey. He graduated with honours from the University of Manitoba’s I.H. Asper School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and attended the Operational Leadership Program at Queen’s School of Business Executive Development Centre.
